Thursday's Thoughts

My Top 10 All Time Favorite Christmas Songs

10. We Three Kings
9.    I'll Be Home for Christmas
8.   Joy to the World
7.   Breath of Heaven
6.   Oh Come All Ye Faithful
5.   It Came Upon a Midnight Clear
4.   All is Well
3.   Veni Veni Emmanuel
2.   Silent Night
and, drum roll please
1.   The First Noel

So, what are your favorite carols? And what about that carol that hits every raw nerve? For me it's, hands down, Paul McCartney's Simply Having a Wonderful Christmas Time. It's insipid, it's repetitive and down right annoying!

What's on Your Christmas Wish List (besides World Peace)?

From Mr. Sister:

A Kitchen Aid mixer, preferably the Artisan model in a really funky color, or

A Carolina Panther jersey in Carolina blue

Not, I repeat NOT, a radio...the gift that keeps on giving. I should know. I've received one 3 times within the past several years. The last two times the past two years! Honey, you know I love you but please listen to me. Just because I liked a gift the 1st time I received it does not give you license to keep getting me the same thing!

From the kids:

A Snuggy and/or fuzzy slippers (Perfect to counteract my Raynoud's during the cold winter months!)

A Little Clarification on The Housewives of OC

Regarding yesterday's haiku:  I do not DVR this show. I couldn't even tell you what time it is on. But I will tell you that if I am channel surfing and come across it I stop surfing and watch. I don't know why.. It draws me in every single time. I do feel like I need to wash my brain with some soap afterwards to rid my mind of the trash I just witnessed.

Daisy Update

Daisy woke up yesterday morning unable to bear weight on her right hind leg. It got worse as the day progressed. I ended up taking her to the veterinarian. We discovered she has a torn ACL that will require surgery. We will go in for a surgical consult to see what all of our options are. In the meantime I have her on an anti-inflammatory and a pain medication, in addition to increasing her arthritis medication to twice daily. God bless her. She's the sweetest dog and doesn't deserve to be going through these health issues. This is quite heartbreaking to see her in pain as I love her so very much.

What's not to love? A girl and her "kong"!

A Final Note

I probably won't be able to respond to commentary today. I really have to sit down and write the annual Christmas letter and get the cards sent out. I also promised Munchie Boy that I would make a Christmas stocking for Daisy. I've procrastinated long enough. Make it a good day everyone!

Anybody notice the acronym for Digital Video Recorder (DVR) is becoming a verb?

So, maybe I can get you a funky colored radio? How about purple? If at first you don't succeed, try, try again!

Or is Einstein's quote more apropos?

"insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results"

You're funny, honey! It's why I fell in love with you to begin with! :o)

I will let you off the hook. You don't ever have to answer my insipid posts.

My favorite Christmas song when I was little was Do You Hear What I Hear? and now it's Sleighride- because it has coffee and pumpkin pie in it.

Poor doggie. Give her extra kisses from me.

There are so many, but for me it's "Oh Holy Night"

I hope your dog feels better soon. It's always sad to hear someone's lovable pet doesn't feel well.

This was a great post! I like that your Hubby chimes in!! :)

I love Christmas music, it starts for me on Thanksgiving. I would have to think of fav's.

I heard the most horrific holiday song the other day. The girls have beautiful voices, but then they start rappin' about their gifts. WOW! It was bad. I have no idea who sings it. I was radio surfing when I heard it.

I hope your dog feels better. I hate seeing my animals in pain too. They are family.

I would not hold you to answering me. Darling, we have lives outside of the web.

Poor Daisy. Our pup (black lab no longer with us)had the same thing happen to both of his back legs.We had to do the surgery for both legs. They had to do it one at the time so it took 3 months to get him up to 100%. It didn't take long after the surgery to get him up and running again.

I know it's cheesy, but my #1 Christmas song is Last Christmas by Wham.

My Christmas Wish list - Fondant & Gum Pate Decorating Kit, Turntable for decorating cakes.

My new favorite Christmas song is "You're Here," by Francesca Battistelli. SO beautiful!

I just wanted to stop by and say hi...and to thank you for being such a good bloggy friend to my mom! (Weezer's my mom.....though I don't usually call her Weezer. That one's reserved for the grandbabies.)

Blessings to you and your family!

I hope Daisy heals up quick.

My favorite Christmas song is Santa Baby, sung by Eartha Kitt. I know it's not holy or anything, but I love it. And the one I always turn off whenever I hear it? Christmas Shoes. I'm probably the only person in the world who does not like that song.

Are you still thinking about handwriting that letter? ;)

I love most Christmas songs, can't possible pick a favorite - my top three are: O Holy Night, Do You Hear What I Hear and Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas...can't stand any Beach Boys Christmas songs...or Madonna's Santa Baby, but I love Eartha's!

Oddly, this is one of those years where I just don;t seem to want anything! I think a new tea kettle. Easy year for Mr M! ;)

I'm so sorry for Daisy!!! I hope all is well for her soon!

My absolute most very favorite carol is "O Holy Night." There are some versions that cause my breath to catch in my throat and goosepimples to appear on my skin. I never make it through to the end without tears. It's absolutely my most favorite ever!!!

Oh, poor Daisy. I'm so sorry to hear about her injury.

Polly, I love your song list! Those are some of my favs too. I agree about the Paul McCartney song. Irritating! I'm sorry to say that The Little Drummer Boy has always kinda bugged me (although I dig the one done by Bing & Bowie). Carol of the Bells whips me into a stressed-out frenzy. A few that I absolutely adore: God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen, O Holy Night, O Come All ye Faithful, and from the secular world: Mele Kalikimaka, and Jingle Bell Rock, and Have a Holly Jolly Christmas.

I hope Santa gets you that Kitchen Aid!

The repeat gif tis kinda funny, does he realize he's doing it?

As for the Christmas songs, my favorite is Oh Holy Night.

Oh, pets are so much like family. It is hard to see them sick and injured.

I like God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen. And Come, O Come Emmanuel...come and random captive Israel...I can just imagine standing on the shores of the Jordon and singing this...waiting for the promised Savior.
