Anger lies beneath
surface of conscious thought
simmering
festering
awaiting
first strike
Apathy wraps around
compassionate spirit
binding
enslaving
tethering
authentic will
Ambivalence invades
plundering faith
clouding
confusing
concealing
spiritual truths
Ardor misappropriates
selfless love into
abusing
by misusing
destroying
life once worth living

I wrote about "Admitting" from the first step today.
You, however, wrote with far more eloquence - you painted the image of what my life was like - thank you!! Wonderfully written

I like how the words seems to be repeating which works well with the subject, as addictions are repeated more often than we want.
Great job on this, and I love the play on words with "Affects of Addiction."
Very nice, Polly!
=)
wow anger ambivalence apathy and ardor , are not only great 'A' words but to write them into the affects of addiction is something to be admired :)
Pretty impressive.
You are a true wordsmith!
It shouldn't have to take this turn.
Polly, this is a powerful piece. You have outdone yourself with this.

You're amazing with words! Like Sue, I love the title of your poem.
Great!!! Love this!
The way you tied-together all those "A" words was very elegant AND cohesive. Nice job!
