Ms. Jenny has played a trick on us...but unbeknownst to her, it's a treat for me! Micro-fiction (25 words) using a photo prompt! Right up my alley! Then I saw the photo. Ooooh, she's a tricky one, that Ms. Jenny.

Sad one, Polly. I'll keep your friend in my heart.
there would be darkness to an addiction, very sad, hope your friend has many supports, not so lucky for a man in our small town last week :(
Addiction is a cruel tyrant, and you write of it so well. I hope your friend finds light at the end of her tunnel.
I hate this disease.

Speaking from first hand experience, (thankfully I was not the addict) but, I know now that any type of addiction is sometimes soul destroying both for the addict and close friends and family.
I wish your friend well with tackling hers.
very deep and caring.
gr8!!!
This reminds me of a writing exercise - when words are minimal you need to get the most for each word - you did

this left me in awe ...
Dear Polly,
So sad for your friend. You are a wizard with words, though, and can write sparkling texts, poems or prose, out of almost any kind of situation.
Thanks for your fun comment on my post.
Best wishes,
Anna

Addiction. Destroyer of so much.
You captured so many of my feelings here.
And always, always the unrelenting fear of what might be.
Hugs to you Miss Polly.
And prayers for your friend and all who struggle.
