Saturday Centus: Trick or Treat

Jenny Matlock

"Trick or treat!" they shouted as the door opened by the exuberance of their earnest knocking. Giggling excitedly, the children rushed forward in search of the tasty treats Mrs. Murphy always gave out each and every Hallow’s Eve. What they encountered, instead, was something so terrifying, so grotesque, that they were stopped dead in their tracks.  Struck dumb by their fright they slowly tried to back out the front door. There was no escape. No one knows what horror these kids witnessed and the unexplained disappearance of Mrs. Murphy and nine neighborhood children remains a complete mystery to this day.

Nice and creepy! Leaving the answer to our imaginations was a clever thing to do. Great take on the prompt. Kat

Creepy seems to be the word for this great centus. Though it's only a regular night, I just got up and made sure my doors are locked!

Wonderful and well written.......cj

First Tom. Now you!

Where are the sweet little Dorothy's and the kindly Grandmothers handing out Kit Kat bars, I ask you?!?

Nightmares for sure...I am hesitant to read next weeks SC's at night!

Seriously, this was unlike your usual style and not what I expected for your SC, but I was intrigued by your words and impressed by your story here.

Thanks for linking.
