Microfiction Monday, Halloween Pictorial, and Musings

The wolf made such a lasting impression
on Little Red Riding Hood
that right then and there
(being true to herself)
she let her inner witch out

Our Halloween Pictorial

Four Gourds Gutted

Here is what became of them.
The "Apple", carved by Bethany,
was the hit of the night
and frightened many a PC user.

Hello. My name is Minerva McGonnigal,
Headmistress of Gryffindor House.

Allow me to introduce you to my favorite student,
Harry Potter.
(yes, I know Munch was Harry last year
but he really liked his costume)

Grayback showed up in our kitchen
in search of his prey, the young Potter boy.

Harry, being the masterful wizard he is,
subdues Grayback, with the help of his Godfather,
Sirius Black (in animagus form).

Bethany was going to a party at the Church.
She is St. Felicity, a slave of St. Perpetua
in the 3rd century AD.
She was martyred for her faith
shortly after giving birth to her baby.

Good friends and neighbors
ready for All Hallow's Eve.

It's just too painful to talk about the Carolina Panthers so I won't.

Before I close I must tell you a story:  Mr. Sister and I attended a Halloween costume party Friday night. A woman, scantily clad as a firefighter, came up to my husband and said, "Did you come alone, because you certainly are the pick of the litter!"  Apparently I was near but I did not hear this. It gave me a good chuckle when Mr. Sister relayed the pick up line to me. I believe he was quite flattered. I know I was because I certainly do have "the pick of the litter"!

That's it for today. Make it a great week, my friends and enjoy this beautiful autumn weather.

Saturday Centus: Startled

Ms. Jenny has thrown a kink into the regular Saturday Census party. Instead of 100 words, today we are only allotted 50 to tell our story, excluding the prompt. She's a task master, that Jenny! I decided to meet that challenge head on and below is what I came up with before tackling the duties of the day. (The prompt is in bold and underlined)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Cold, dark, and dreary describes that particular moonless night. Quite unusual this far south of the Mason-Dixon Line.  Curled up by the comforting fire within the hearth, I was startled by sudden, incessant, ceaseless pounding. Carefully cracking open the front door amid animated shouting I was surprised to learn that  Abraham Lincoln was a lot shorter than I thought he would be.
Happy Trick or Treating!
Don't forget tomorrow night is All Hallow's Eve.
May many superheroes, fairytale princesses
and magical, mystical creatures
show up at your front door!
Flash Friday 55: Halloween Night
Fairytale creatures, magical beasts
Begin their quests for sugary feasts
Goblins galore, ghostly ghouls
The scarier the better is only rule
Howling, shouting up and down the street
At each lighted door “Trick or Treat!”
Anticipating with utter glee
Gumdrops, lollipops, and sticky candy
A medley of fantastical delights
All gobbled up on Halloween night.
I am participating in G-Man's Flash Friday 55 meme, where the object is to come up with a story or prose in exactly 55 words. Please visit his website, Mr. Know it All for other stories.
Saturday Centus: Trick or Treat
Jenny Matlock
"Trick or treat!" they shouted as the door opened by the exuberance of their earnest knocking. Giggling excitedly, the children rushed forward in search of the tasty treats Mrs. Murphy always gave out each and every Hallow’s Eve. What they encountered, instead, was something so terrifying, so grotesque, that they were stopped dead in their tracks.  Struck dumb by their fright they slowly tried to back out the front door. There was no escape. No one knows what horror these kids witnessed and the unexplained disappearance of Mrs. Murphy and nine neighborhood children remains a complete mystery to this day.
This week's prompt for Saturday Centus (a story or poem in 100 words or less) is in orange bold above. For other entries for this weekly meme, please visit Ms. Jenny's blog.
Monday Musings
Dear Carolina Panthers,
I sincerely thank you for taking into consideration the comments I made last week. And forget what I said about Jake . . . I allowed my emotions, at the time, to take over. All in all GREAT JOB!
All my best,
Mrs. Sister
****************************************
Strange, very strange. I woke up next to an old man this morning.
Oh, never mind . . . it's just my husband.
Mr. Sister turns 50 today!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY HONEY BUNNY!
****************************************
On a final note, I leave you with photographic evidence of a weekend visit from Harry Potter, Hermione Grainger, and Ron Weasely.
Nice scar, I mean scarf, Harry.
Hermione strikes a lovely pose as in her recent movie poster.
Be careful with that wand, Ron!
Harry appears uncomfortable with Hermione's attention.
Buddies for life!
Ron, you really need to fix your wand.
Great friends and magical times.
