Flash Friday 55: Autumn

Nature’s breath,
crisp and cool,
blows across the land.

Sweaters and boots awake,
from summer’s sleep,
setting about their seasonal work.

Orange colored gourds
Gather in fields and homes
Beginning their annual service work.

Foliage takes the stage
With one last costume change
before the final curtain call.

…for they shall shed as autumn leaves.

I am participating in Flash Friday 55, a meme hosted by our very own Mr. Know it All (aka G-Man). The purpose is to write a story or prose in exactly 55 words, no more, no less. Care to join the fun? Just link up in G-Man's comment section.

Beautiful poetry, Polly.

I love the poem, but I'm not much of a fan of fall. It's the beginning of months and months of cold weather, dead looking trees and snow around here. Makes me sad.

Love this 55. I live in South Florida so for us autumn is here when we can change from sleeveless to short sleeves and from short shorts to Bermuda shorts. :)

My 55 is up.

Hi 5thsister, I'm sixth in line, and pleased to meet you. I'm not so devout a Catholic, but we might have things in common.

Hi Polly!

I only experienced autumn once during a trip to Sydney few years ago and it was such a nice experience!

Beautiful, Polly!

We've had our first taste of fall, and supposed to get another soon. I'm so excited (but not looking forward to all the raking and leaf clean up, lol!). But fall and Halloween are my favorite times of year and you've captured it all so effortlessly.
