Sensational Haiku Wednesday: Anticipation

Ah…expectations
Give rise to disappointments
Acceptance is key

Haiku Wednesday is always a joy to participate in. This week’s theme was ANTICIPATION. I equate anticipation with expectations. When I EXPECT something, I am bound to get hurt, or upset that things don’t quite go the way I had envisioned. In my spiritual quest I have found to live in the reality of the here and now. To accept people and situations for whom and they are, not what I want them to be. It truly is freeing.

If you would like to view some silly expectations vs. reality images, please click here.

Sensational Haiku Wednesday: Deception

secrets burrowing…
mind deaf to truth’s silent shouts…
memories altered

secrets burrowing…
beguiling, bewitching, bold
binding battered soul

secrets burrowing…
sneaky,  sleazy,  nesting near
Ever present threat

Soul’s awakening...
divine intervention lifts
fog from hazy mind

soul’s awakening...
seeking vision’s clarity
to lies’ deception

soul’s  awakening...
breaking free from captive’s chains
one link at a time

Sensational Haiku Wednesday: Directions

The trail splinters off
She chooses the way of Truth
Chaos left behind

Following the lead
Of others who've forged the way

Sensational Haiku Wednesday: Secrets

Join the fun!

Sequestered; hidden
within the catacombs of
subconscious thoughts, dreams.

Secret images
of a long forgotten past
waiting for escape

when the veil's removed.
Open, exposed by day's light,
demons forced to flee.

Reacting to pain
is best buffered by one's faith.
"Please, Lord...give me strength!"

DREAMS

Hidden clues, secrets,
Bizarre scenarios, too.
Welcome to my dreams.

Nightly trysts seduce
the dreamer desiring truth...
Subconscious puzzles.

I have often said:
"God speaks to me within dreams"
Bewildered by signs.

Sensational Haiku Wednesday-Steam

Join the fun!

Temperatures rise.
Roiling, boiling...pressure builds.
Released with a scream!

Could this be passion?
Or simply a pot of tea
left on the burner....

You decide.

Sensational Haiku Wednesday - Metamorphosis

Metamorphosis, 1997
Wheel-thrown and modified vessel
by The 5th Sister

Wedged, formed and molded...
clay upon the potter's wheel...
Glazed; refined by fire.

Beginning as mud,
the Creator makes his mark.
Metamorphosis

Sensational Haiku Wednesday-Renovation

Spiritual Renovation

A new beginning.
Spirit within awakens
through fasting and prayer.

Sacrifice. Penance.
Redirecting life towards
a holier path.

May hearts be humbled
so that Christ's light can shine through
this season of Lent.

Sensational Haiku Wednesday-Comfort Zone

Actual family photo taken on the beaches of Ocho Rios, Jamaica, 2008

Caribbean Comfort

Bone chilling rain falls.
Dark, damp, dreary days ahead.
Jamaica calls me!

Rum drinks on beaches,
Warm weather; exotic food.
Cabana boys, too!

But until return,
I will have to make do with
My Snuggie instead!

Photo actually taken within the confines of the Sister House

Sensational Haiku Wednesday: Reality

Living, dream to dream.
Not wanting to awaken
and feal what is real.

For what's truly real
is what's too painful to face.
Dreaming keeps me sane.

Time to own my "truth".
From slumber's depth I arise
confronting demons.

Ever so bravely
I must struggle to now be.
Come reality.
