Vulnerable to the Vodka
sitting upon the shelf
and to vintner’s special vintage
a carafe all to myself
Vermouth of particular value
for daddy taught me right
mix with gin; add olive
to serve him every night
Vespers from a bottle
vanishing beneath its veil
ever vowing every morning
in vain attempts to become well

This verse is in honor of those I know personally as they find validation for their truths in their valiant efforts to remove the chains of addiction. I admire their vigilance.

Props to you for this 55 poem. Such a tough daily battle many go through. Also, like the V-alliteration in this piece.
Great poem, Polly. Great message, too.
=)
Wow! Polly, you are so gifted! It is a joy to read your words every time!

Pollyanna...
Thank you for coming back to the Friday Funfest.
Your 3 year absence has been a nightmare for all of us.
Thanks for playing, and have a Kick Ass Week-End
*sniff* brings tears to my eyes . This was very good
I, too, would write the same post script. It was a beautiful poem (I especially liked "daddy taught me right"), but your personal note is what grabbed me. Great piece!
Good, wending verses.
This is very powerful. Well done.
Polly, this is the kind of powerful picture I have come to expect from you. You never disappoint me.
Aahh.. vigorous and powerful verses!!
Awesome!!
Cheers to all those trying to "fend off" this addiction.. (sigh... could I not use a better word than "cheers"?!)
Vulnerable, indeed. Thanks for sharing this, and I echo the respect and blessings for all who struggle with this and other addictions. I know it is a daily fight. May they always be victorious.
I have nothing but respect and admiration for those that battle addictions.
It is a special kind of courage reserved, I think, for those who have both the valour of their convictions and the belief in their own dreams.
Miss Sister. I am a huge fan. You are a hero to me in so many ways.
Thanks for the blessings of this post.
Hugs, hope and A+
