I have not participated in Ms. Jenny's Centus in a couple of weeks so I am bending the rules and using last week's prompt (in green) and this week's prompt (in blue) together! I hope it works. Below is my story in exactly 100 words, prompts included.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Everything depended upon this single card:
her key to a whole new life,
her passport to great adventure.
She hadn’t planned on leaving so soon, but it was time.
Opportunity had knocked and she is
poised to open that door,
ready to grab its hand,
never to look back on her life
with the regret of “what if”.
Removing her shackles of fear,
she slides the card in place,
punching in her password.
The ATM machine began dispensing twenties.
Her savings now depleted,
she steps up to the counter
and purchases that one way ticket
to her life’s dream destination.
OOh, I can feel the excitement! :o)
Loved it! Great use of both prompts, I love the way you've tied them both together. Let the adventure begin! Kat
And yet ANOTHER Micro-Fiction prompt?
Dang...
Good job Pollyanna...Missed you.
Polly this is a wonderful post. It speaks of the hope that is in you for a better life after a childhood of pain and disappointment. As you know, I love your writing voice.
What a brave woman ... and the use of two prompts, very well done! it is always such a pleasure to read your takes on the prompt
This is beautifully worded. I especially like "Removing her shackles of fear."
as long as there are no regrets when the door closes....
I love the story you created with both of these prompts! It's inspiring but there is still that level of anxiety. Great job!
Fabulous job !!! You are awesome, using 2 prompts one great story. I love her getting past her fears and moving forward with a new page in her life...so many people get caught in the past and never move away, start fresh or progress !
Nice. A combo prompt Centus!
Well done.
=)
Great way to get them both in!
Any chance you will continue adding to this story in the future? I would love to know how it all turns out for her.
What an adventure could unfold!
This makes me think of my friend who just moved, out of the blue, from Pittsburgh to LA. What's that about? I can't imagine doing that!
What an excellent idea combining them, it really worked well!
well done!!
an adventure about to begin
Such a clever and well written take on the two prompts! This little story is filled with hope, and that makes me happy.
Thanks for a great C-S..........cj
Polly! Genius! Neat!
Sadly, my ATM machine will only dispense 400 dollars AND I do live pretty close to the Mexican boarder so I guess that would be more foreign country.
Sigh...
I like the exotic idea of your little story so much better. I see a plane, I see long hair blowing across her face on the tarmac as she waits to board the small plane to...
Loved it!
