Flash Friday 55: The Deluge

Gentle breezes become wild and untamed

Lightning flash dances, pirouetting,

clogging across billowing, rain laden clouds

The rhythmatic, rolling thunder crescendos ever closer

A deluge approaches

The cadence of raindrops’ accelerating tempo

morphs into sharp, staccato beats upon her psyche

Fearing sleep...

fearing her dreams...

she remains on guard

As the internal storm rages on.

Even though I just woke up, after reading that, I feel tired and cranky.

Excellent portrayal of the internal landscape. Lull her to sleep, as Brian mentioned.

Joy always,
Susan

P. S: I learnt new words through this post. Every line seems to have one!

Interesting Hun! An internal storm? Gentlemen (and women), start your metaphors!

Perfect 55! I was thinking how much I enjoy the tempest brewing and was caught up short learning this was internal. Not one of the storms I enjoy.

The nice thing about storms is that everything is squeaky clean right after!

Oh I'd be up awake looking at the rainy and stormy sky! Just love it! Wonderful post btw, where did you get all this ideas to write it?! Awesome!

External storms invite sleep to come. The internal ones chase sleep away. But both can leave rainbows in their wake. I hope you see your rainbow soon.

It's funny, so many 55's this week are either steamy hot or rainy cold. (Must be the weather!)

Love the imagery in this one! :)

I love the images. I sleep very well during thunder storms but my dreams exhaust me every night.

outer storms seem easier to handle than inner ones - why is that?

I love how you shift from a storm to the internal storm. Very nicely done.

I hope that internal sunshine and calm skies replace those storms. You really should see about getting published, somewhere.
Love you, sweetie.
