It's Not Easy Being 48

Or is it?

My arms are too short and my glasses too weak...

My face is breaking out like a teenager's...

"Waves of warmth" are beginning to make an appearance...

I now have to watch what I eat when I never had to before...

My memory is shot...

My hearing is going...

My joints now ache after my morning runs...

My kids are growing up too fast...

My hair is thinning and making a reappearance on my upper lip...

Miralax is my best friend...

However, on a positive note:

I am wiser...

I don't have to ask permission to do what I'd like to do...

I make a decent salary because of my 30 years of experience...

No one cards me when I purchase beer or wine...

My home is nearly paid for...

I am confident...

I actually like the taste of healthy foods...

I can carry on an adult conversation with my kids...

I don't worry about what others think...

I can take pride in my kids who have grown into remarkable, talented individuals...

It all balances out, don't you agree?

Indeed it does balance out... I recognized far too many things in the first list though ;)

Saw a haiku comment you left, and I'm wondering why you're not joining in on the fun every week! Consider this an invitation - next week's theme is "time". Hope to see you there!

you got a great sense of balance and I like that you focus so many thoughts in a positive frame.

And you are able to look at your life with a sober eye.

I would have never guessed your age by looking at your picture (I mean that in a good way). I hope that when I am 48 -in 18 years- I will be as wise and accepting of myself.

So fun to find you. Thanks for stopping by my blog. Thought this post totally related to me, and made me giggle. By the way...looking at your picture I can clearly see that you are such a beautiful woman. We just don't hear that enough after 40. But you really are!

I'll be 39 in two months. Many (ok almost all) of the things on that list are too familiar to me as well.

I agree 100% - I think - I am not sure, my memory at this age is beginning to go
