Breathe

breathe in
breathe out
calm my mind
quell my thoughts

another breath in
another breath out
assuage my fears
ease my doubt

in through nose
out through same
found a lump
play waiting game

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I attempted to write a post for Monkey Man's 160 (story/prose in 160 characters). This is the poem that wanted to be written. It's a tad over 160...174 to be exact. What triggered this topic? Well, it is that time for my annual mammogram and for some reason I always stress about it. Also, I recently received a packet for Avon's Walk for the Cure (a 2 day, 26 mile walk). I am seriously considering participating this year.
I must be off to work now. Please allow me to thank you, in advance for dropping by. Unfortunately, on my work weekends, I do not have the luxury of visiting you or personally replying to your comments. Have a great Sunday!
I always get concerned when I go for my annual mammogram (my sister fought breast cancer). But I hold my breath and think positive thoughts.
I hope you're thinking positively too.
Mammos save a lot of lives but women must be diligent about having them annually. Mine is upcoming, and I'm always a tad nervous, too. I don't have bc on my side of the family, but my husband's mom died of bc, so I worry for my daughters more than for myself.
I have not yet had one, but I am sure it will be a day filled with anxiety when I do. Prayers for you..
Here is hoping all turns out normal at your mammy. Great message even if it goes 174. Thanks for sharing it on the Sunday 160.
Praying that the Holy Spirit will fill you with peace, and for a perfectly read clean scan.
I know that fears,
what a powerful 160...
women who have given birth to children are less likely to get that ...
best regards.
I went in for a mammogram recently. Got a lump that's been there for years. They didn't find anything wrong. Whewh!
I'm so glad that this was inspired by your upcoming mammogram and not finding a lump!
I have friends who do that walk! They really enjoy it. I enjoy cheering them on from where I sit on my duff. I haven't had the mammogram yet, I am hoping they invent something less squishy before I turn 40.
That reminds me...I'm due. I've been ignoring the reminder letter...GREAT poem. And if it takes 174, who am I to complain? I'm not the blog police ;-)
we have been lucky, never touched by the big "C" in any way, but I know those who have. What a scary thing.
Great poem, and way too many women can relate to it. Fortunately, as we are all told, most lumps are benign.
Good for you for getting your mammogram. I just had mine a couple of weeks ago. We are good girls!
=)
I think finding a lump is one of most, if not all, women's greatest fears. Thank you for your quiet words of understanding.
I have way too many friends who've had breast cancer.
mammograms--not fun, yet important.
I know exactly where you are coming from. I too had a bit of a scare when I recently went for my first Mamo. I'm sure you will be fine. PS: I am a team leader for the Susan G. Komen 3-Day. It's my 2nd year walking, 60 miles in 3 days. Wanna join us? ;-)
