Flash Friday 55: A True Tale

Home alone...attempting to sleep.
Strange noises disturb twilight's tranquility.

Ah! Her beloved feline, she thought.

She senses his furry paws
padding across hardwoods.
Then,
stealthily leaping onto bed,
searching for favored slumber spot...
he settles upon her chest...
comforting, easing fears.

Eyes closed, she reaches to caress...

SUDDEN SCREAMS ERUPT...

For kitty isn't there!

Blogger's note: I swear to this day that this story is real.
It happened to me when I was in my early teens.
We experienced all sorts of unusual paranormal
phenomena within my childhood home.
This is but one of many haunting tales.

I will be earning my keep over the next 3 days and because of that I will not be able to personally respond to any commentary. But do comment! It will be the bright spot after what is sure to be a busy, busy day at the hospital. TGIF for those of you with the weekend off!

Sounds scary! I can't wait to hear more tales. As you know, we have our share of unexplained phenomena in our house.

This reminded me of an older book (series, since they came out with at least three) called "Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark." Messed up stuff. Also reminded me of an urban legend book I own. Not as graphic or gruesome, but still. I love it.

SPOOKY! We used to have problems at one of our old homes, I swear I never really believed other people's haunting stories until I was living in one!

Oooh! Spooky!

Reminded me of the time I was reading a mystery late one night, home alone...at the exact moment the main character feels an intruder grab her in the dark...my cat jumped on me! He WAS a ghost cat after that...I screamed so loud I didn't see him for four days

Ahem...I'm starting a new game...responding to Flash Friday 55's with a 55-word comment! LOL!!! ;-)

Did you get any sleep that night? Yikes! I live in a very old house, but have never experienced anything unusual.

I love the story too. I was going to complain because my cats always slept on my head, which was usually over my head to drown out their purring.

Thanks for linking up with my Thursday Tackle. I really hadn't planned on a meme, but some people suggested. I see what happens. I know I'll continue challenging myself to different styles of writing and topics.

Beautiful photo! And I love ghost stories - my hubs and I actually spent our honeymoon in a haunted Bed and Breakfast in Savannah, GA.

Whoah, very cool! I actually had this happen once to me, just after I had to have my cat put to sleep. Not sure if I was simply dreaming/wishing, or if she was really there with me. Comforting to think the latter though.
