Flash Friday 55: 1st Love

dingy grey, stained,
threadbare, worn.

witness to boundless love, countless tears.
victim of night time nose bleeds and upset tummies.
comforter of fears and nightmares.
receiver of countless hugs and sloppy wet kisses.

champion of snuggles.
survivor of "games"
and visits to the laundry room.
number one bedtime partner.

world traveler.
secret bearer.
love retainer.

I am participating in Flash Friday 55. This weekly meme is brought to you by G-Man over at Mr. Know it All. The object is to write a story or prose in exactly 55 words. Come join us and link your 55 over in Mr. Know it All's comment section.

I'll be working the next several days (12 hour shifts) so I won't be able to reciprocate on your commentary. Allow me to thank you in advance for visiting me today!

Oh, this was wonderful. Reminded me of my pink and white bear. I miss it so. I think I need to make some in her memory.

I love this, Polly. I have a big soft spot for threadbare faux friends--I still have several myself. Wonderful imagery. Enjoy your day at work!

Love retainer. That's better than a mouth retainer! Or a lawyer retainer!

Sorry, that was me. Being a dork and forgetting how to type.

*ahem*

What I meant to say was...

That's love, for reals.

Mine is here.

Awww. I loved this one. The picture is sweet too. I know he's all manly now but when they are sleeping you can still see glimpses of the little kid that has been left behind.

So true! My daughter has a worn, tired looking little lamb that she couldn't live without. What would childhood be without such faithful friends?

Oh , I wish I have a teddy bear.
My eldest does not need one, but
my youngest is HUGE on teddy bears.

I agree with everything you wrote,
think that is exactly what
the bear feels to her.

hugs

Um, is it sad that I still sleep with a stuffed animal? Was thinking about doing a post about it, actually.

Just about the sweetest thing I have ever read. You have such a way with words. I can just picture my son and his teddy.
