Silly Haiku Wednesday: The Road

Pavement and white lines,
Through mountains; into prairies.
The road to Kansas

Leaving the heartland
With overwhelming sadness.
My road towards home.

The road less traveled;
Upon the wings of angels.
May God bless your soul.

This Haiku is dedicated to the memory of my brother-in-law, Larry Magill.

The basics:

Haiku is simple!
It is 3 non-rhyming lines of 5, 7, and 5 syllables respectively
(a great way to use your fingers!)

These are lovely. I wish I had this kind of creative writing skills. I'm much too verbose.

I'm sorry about Larry, I've been praying this wouldn't be drawn out and put a lot of pressure on your sister's family.

Toddler sick again
Tired of cleaning up puke
Mommy needs a break

Hows that for my haiku? I only had a few hours of sleep, so if it's not the right amount of syllables, sorry.

Beautiful, Polly! (Especially since Kansas is the road home for me, too)

You manage to make so few syllables so moving. Great job!

Thank you also for sharing your story on my blog yesterday and helping me feel less alone. I appreciate it more than you know.

Great as always! And if you're headed to Kansas, why not drive a bit further and drop by for coffee in Nebraska? ;)

I don't usually use the word "beautiful" to describe a haiku, but yours today are...beautiful!

My thoughts are with you all in this time of sorrow. But it's memories like these that will pull you through the rough times and those memories will be cherished for all eternity :)
