"As a homeschooling mom, I ask: Is it wrong to be thankful for a "sick day"?"
I then went on to comment:
"I say this because, as Paul is in bed sleeping, trying to recover from the flu, I finally have time to fold the laundry monster that has taken over my dining room, to thoroughly clean and disinfect the kitchen and bathroom and to prepare a totally from scratch home cooked meal."
I went on to accomplish all I set out for myself and then some to include raiding a friend's garden, grocery shopping, and carpooling. This post received a record number of commentary (all favorable, btw.)
My question to you is, what type of either Facebook or Blog posts bring you the most traffic? Curious minds want to know.

I was just thinking about that actually. I don't know. Bashing hubby always does. Posts about my kids, not so much. Funny stories do. Woe is me does not. I'm still working on blog domination, so if you figure it out, let me know!
On FB, something about the weather always seems to draw responses. I think it's because it's easy for people to type in their own weather and because it's something we all have in common, no matter where you live... unless of course you live in a cave.
Yeah, LB...I hear you're wearing sandals as I type! Lee: Can't bash Mr. Sister as he controls all the technology in the house. Plus he's a cutie patootie and I'd like to keep him around for awhile. Gotta love the computer geek!
for me it is not so much the status that I get comments on but when I post pictures. I figured people would be sick of them now (especially of Drake) but it doesn't seem to be that way.
hmmmm, I don't know. I am going to have to think on this, I enjoyed reading the other responses to this :)
I was just thinking about this as well! On FB it is anything about food or complaining about the kids or hubs. Sometimes with FB I think it depends on the time of day that you post. If it is a high traffic time, you will get more views and more comments. Low traffic time commments get buried.
With blogging, I get the most on group link things (Mama Kat, Steph's Group Blog) or man bashing.
On posts, it's a toss-up between the controversial ones and the satirical ones...oh wait...that's about 95% of my blog! On facebook, it depends. I usually post about my mood or what's going on that morning...different posts catch different people, I guess!
That's a good question. I never really thought about it. I don't get that many responses on FB, I often think of it as being the same as talking to myself (which is fine, I do that often!). With my blog, the number of comments seems to be pretty consistent regardless of the topic. I have gotten a lot more emails since I started the cocktail party, though. Not just submissions, but questions, comments and general conversation.
My son has been sick all week, and I feel like I am about to go to Target for a vacation. Four dogs, 2 kids, real estate business, and my husband. I am about to have a breakdown. It is bad enough I am thinking of Target as a get away option.
Usually when I make a complaining post, I get all sorts of condolences. Then I feel like a whiny, complaining heel.
Ones about motherhood seem to be popular for me, but it's kinda hard to say overall...I'll have to go check now...
Interesting topic/study. I've wondered about that myself. The FB post I probably received the most feedback on was when I mentioned something about not wanting to tackle my own mountain of laundry. Weird, huh? It's like laundry is a magical buzzword that incites all moms online into a frenzy. All joking aside, I think the posts that deal simple every-day issues that we all struggle with are the most relateable and generate a lot of support and foster commaraderie.
I don't get that many comments yet, but I noticed that posts about simple every day issues like Rook No. 17 mentioned get the most feedback especially when people can associate with it.
I guess it's kind of hit and miss situation.
good question- and normal, too. There are never sick days for moms- except sick days when everyone else is resting so you can, too without that "guilty" feeling! BTW- we need to be friends on facebook too! (I can't find you on it...)
