An Empty Table

…You've prepared a marvelous meal to serve to some very special guests. You've doted on this meal, lovingly making sure everything is just right. You have used the finest of ingredients, the bounty of the harvest. You have set out your very best china and linens. You have painstakingly prepared everything to perfection. At the last minute your guests arrive. They grab the feast, take it, and leave to dine in another’s home. All you are left with is an empty table and a broken heart…

This was part of a most amazing blog post. The original post was scheduled to appear right here, in this very spot. Today. You would have really enjoyed it. It had a little of everything:  religion, intrigue, scandal. Yep. It was a doozy all right.

Fortunately, this morning, a cooler head prevailed. I deleted the publication for it may have caused more harm than good. But boy, oh boy, it felt so good getting it out of my system!

Tomorrow’s post will more than make up for what you missed out on today. I promise!

Well aren't you a tease!

Talk about a hit-and-run, on two levels. First, the guests who take the food and leave. How horrible! I would be most upset by this. I don't even know how I would handle it to be honest.

And secondly (on a much smaller scale) you hitting us with this and leaving us hanging! We want more!

Nah, it's cool to wait though. I'll have to tell you the story about it sometime but one day I fired off an angry e-mail and it literally cost me the chance to go to Germany for a month back in '06. It's better to be careful about rants as I learned the hard way.

sometimes it fixes a lot to just vent. Looking forward to next post!

You are smart for not posting your anger here. Better to write it on paper, re-read it, and then tear it up. You'll feel so much better in the morning. Sorry it had to happen to you in the first place!

Okay, LOL! Time for a little clarification. The above story is an ANALOGY. Oh, and here's hoping tomorrow's post lives up to its hype!

I'm so glad you're feeling calmer now. It's probably best that you didn't post when you were upset.

As for your analogy, something very similar happened to me. My husband and I hosted an outdoor movie night for our friends and neighbors. We set up our big outdoor movie screen, picked a great movie, made snacks and drinks. One of our neighbors came over, said he couldn't stay, but poured two margaritas into plastic cups to take home for himself and his wife. He did leave his kids for us to watch, though! He hasn't been invited to another movie night since!!!

For some reason this put me in mind of my long lost grandmother's dining room. The smell of boiling tea, crumbs on the table cloth, the sound of a clock... I can only think it is winter when I imagine myself in that house.. I spend a lot of time thinking about places like that, places forever shut to me.

May we guess? Cause I think I've figured it out.

Did someone steal one of your posts? A Haiku, maybe?

Good one, JMom. No missing haikus that I'm aware of!

Julie, your commentary was a brilliant piece of art! Lee, be looking for my email...I sent you a book! Willoughby...the audacity! Your incident reminds me of some friends who came cross country to visit with their kids. They ended up partying at the neighbor's leaving the poor munchkins for us to watch.

Hmmmm, Sounds good!

Sometimes I have to rethink a post or two. My journal is for me. I do enjoy blogging so much. Not only do you get to tell your stories, but you make friends doing it.

Peace be with you!

I was gettng all riled up until I read in the comments that it was an analogy; now I need to know what happened! Of course, sometimes its just a good release to write it down and not post it, because you truly can't anything on the internet back, but I'm so curious!

I understand this completely! It's one of the reasons I blog - for journal purpose and to release. And there are times, I will email myself a "vent" that I might blog about later, but I rarely do. Just getting it "out" of the system is more than half the battle of relieving the stress. Love how you started this blog post by the way!

When I wait till evening to read blogs, I miss all the good stuff. Will we our questions be answered tomorrow?

When I feel like venting, I punch my husband in the gut really hard.

Judging by some of the things I read today in the TMI columns...I doubt your scandal could hold a candle to those. Holly at lifelaughlatte.blogspot.com

Wow...That would be awful and you have a good reason to be hurt. I can think of all kinds of things to say, but none of them nice. ♥ Don't worry...in the end, they will get what they did to you done to them in some manner. It always works out that way.
