Alphabe-Thursday: The Letter I

Imagine Insanity Invading her mind...
Infused In Images of the Impressionable kind.

Intimidating, Inviting, Intoxicating and Wild.
Indifferent to the Innocent child.

Should she Indulge, Imbide, Impulsively act,
Ignoring Indignities of the resulting Impact?

Impassioned...Igniting an Insatiable desire.
Could she endure an Insufferable Ire?

Imaginary or not, It's just that way when
Her thoughts Illuminate the struggle within.

Alphabe-Thursday: The Letter H

Jenny Matlock

Hodge-Podge

Hapless, Hopeless, Hindered
is my state of mind.
Finding decent H words
Has put me in a bind.

It began with Helga the Hippo,
who was Hankering for some Hay.
But How the Heck was Humperdink
(a Humpback) going to save the day?

 I thought "Hyacinth the Heifer"
were a better choice of words,
that is until I stepped into
Her Hefty Heap of turds!

I imagined Hunky Heathcliff,
Head of a band that rocks,
Who could look mighty Handsome
in His leather socks!

Or should I mention Hermione
and Harry's Heroic ride
upon the back of the Hippogriff
that saves Sirius' Hide.

Now Hubby is Having a Hissy-fit*,
at least, that is my Hunch.
Or could it be His tummy's Howling,
Hoping for some lunch?

A lot of Hoopla and Heartache,
Has gone into this post.
I Hope my Hand at Humor
was enjoyable to most!

*Please note: purely artistic license.
There were no "hissy fits" thrown about!
And Mr. Sister is quite capable of fixing his own lunch!

Alphabe-Thursday: The Letter G

Jenny Matlock

Greasy, Gloppy, Gopher, Guts
heaped upon a plate,
then served to Greedy Gangsters
so this is what they ate.

They Gagged and Gasped then Gagged some more
for the Grub they really did hate.
And what about the Ghastly chef?
"Sleeping with Fishies" was his fate.

Okay, are you thoroughly disgusted? To make it up to you I am sending you to my friend Luis' blog, Muddy Runner, for his "Friday Leftovers" post. He posted a great "G" video on his blog as a nod to those of us participating in this meme. Go on and have a gander...you won't be disappointed.

Alphabe-Thursday: The Letter F

The Letter F is for:

Fernando the Frenchman

Fernando the Frenchman
is a Friend of mine.
He Fixes Fishy dishes
and serves Fermented wine.

Fernando the Frenchman
a Fickle Friend indeed.
He Fancies the Finest Frocks
but won't share out of greed.

Fernando the Frenchman
Frolics with the Faeries,
but only until nightFall,
when Fleas and Flies shall tarry.

Fernando the Frenchman
A Funny Fop For sure,
Fears the Flying Fireflies
So Fleeing, shouts, "Bon Jour!"

(I plead temporary insanity due to my recent bout with the "flu")

Come Join the fun by linking up with Jenny over at her blog!

Alphabe-Thursday: The Letter E

WARNING

The following is not for the faint of heart or weak of stomach!
If any of this applies to you, STOP!

Go back!

Don't read!
(I won't be offended. Promise!)

E is for Emesis
(also known as vomit, puke, upchuck, throw up,
heave, hurl, retch, and so forth...
my thesaurus has over 30 words to describe this condition. Egads!)

That's right.E is for emesis, the medical term for regurgitation.

I was originally going to pen some clever little E alliteration but instead, life bit me in the butt really hard yesterday morning.

I've been nursing a sinus infection going on 3 weeks now. I went back to the doctor on Tuesday because I thought for sure my eardrum ruptured. I was in intense pain, radiating from my ear down my neck along the jaw line. It wasn't ruptured or even infected for that matter...just filled with fluid. I was given another round of antibiotics for my persistent sinus infection, a couple of Darvocets (for pain), and sent on my way.

Within 30 minutes of taking my medicine this morning, the most severe headache and violent wave of nausea washed over me. I was totally incompacitated! I was bowing to the porcelain god for most of the day. Every time I attempted to lay down and close my eyes my insides would churn and burn and another bout of retching and hurling ensued. By 3pm the only fluids I had kept down were itty bitty sips of water. So you can imagine, nothing was coming up during these marathon spewing sessions, just a tremendous amount of painful dry heaving!

So, in essence, on the Holy day of Ash Wednesday, my fast was essentially forced and hoisted upon me. I had planned on fasting. Really. I have big life changing plans I'm pursuing this Lenten season. But during my fast I was going to allow myself juices and such. I, however, think God had other ideas. He took my plans to fast and abstain quite seriously and made sure I followed through with my life altering plans. Oh how I prayed throughout the morning and on into the day. I prayed for my suffering to be united with Christ. I prayed for Christ to take my suffering and use it for good. I prayed for my father. I prayed for my family and friends. For the Catechism of the Catholic Church (#1505) tells us,

"...By His passion and death on the cross Christ has given a new meaning to suffering: it can henceforth configure us to Him and unite us with His redemptive passion."

I lost count of the number of Our Fathers and Hail Marys implored but at this writing I can say I am feeling better.

I also made a secret promise to God. I now need to make good on it.

God bless!

Alphabe-Thursday: The Letter D

Jenny Matlock

D is For Daisy

And just what Does Daisy Do?

She Does this:

Day in and Day out!

Dawdling at the Door.

Dedicated Defender of her Domicile.

Drives Daddy nuts.

Daffy Dog!

Alphabe-Thursday: The Letter C

I struggled with "C" this week. Oh what Could I do?

Good ol' alliteration is always fun:

The Cacophony of Cackles and Cat Calls Came forth
from the Cantankerous Curmudgeons
Causing the Crushed Comedian to Cry.

Or maybe I should Craft a poem:

Crimson glass of Cabernet
Calling, Courting at end of day.
From whose Clasp is hard to stray
Oh Crimson glass of Cabernet.

I see that I'm still stuck in alliteration mode. Oh well.

I know...How about a pictorial?
My spice Cabinet is a sea of "C":

Here you have Cloves, Cardamom, Coriander,
Celery seed, Curry powder, Caraway seeds, and Cinnamon

And to the left are Cayenne, Cumin, and Chili powder,

That's it. I have nothing else.  I'm all "C'd" out for the day.

To participate in Alphabe-Thursday, please hop on over to
Jenny's place to see what the fuss is all about.

Alphabe-Thursday: The Letter B

TO B OR NOT TO B

In honor of the letter B, please indulge me while I pen the following:

Beastly boisterous boys behaving badly behind Best Buy,
brandishing broken bottles.
Big bully Billy blatantly boinked Bobby's buttocks.
Bobby bled.
Billy bolted.
Bummer.

The Bellyache

My son was complaining of a bellyache the other day. He said it could be from something he ate. I asked him what he had. The following conversation ensued:

"Well," he began, "I had a bowl of Goldfish."
"That doesn't sound bad."
"I mixed in some sweet tarts."
"Oh, kind of like a trail mix. That still seems pretty tame."
"Actually, I squirted chocolate syrup all over the top."
"Ewww!"
"And I added chocolate pudding."
"And you ate that?"
"Uh huh."
"Yes, I can see how that would give you a bellyache."
