Sipping lattes,
Cappuccinos, too
Souls gathering
Before morning hustle,
Demands
Of the daily grind.
Businessmen,
Carpool moms,
Mechanics,
Lawyers,
Barking orders to baristas
Hustling espressos.
Contrived camaraderie
Masking lives that are
Isolated,
Sequestered,
Withdrawn,
confused.
Coping the best they can
Finding respite,
blessed release,
staring into that venti mocha,
non-fat, extra hot.

"Ahhh - I feel better already" she says with a smile
Love it Polly a tempting 55
Who would have thought we all have so much in common. I love my morning cuppa too.
Pollyanna?
You wrote a post with only a 55 in mind?
**sniff**
(I've finally arrived)
LOVED LOVED LOVED Your 55 My Friend
I'm a Java Man!!!
You picked, roasted, and ground this one.
Thanks for playing, and have a Kick Ass Week-End
your vocabulary is always fascinating.....
amazing 55.
Merry Christmas.
Hmm... I'm not a coffee fan.. they make me sleepy... not kidding...
nice...love going to coffee shops...a great place to create community..and maybe let a little of that isolation out...
I drink herbal tea but I enjoyed your 55.
MMM! a delicious 55 er, love the cafe's, drinking coffee....and your poem. lovely 55er
cheers,
joanny
I'm so glad I have my coffee next to me, or this poem would have sent me after one. Speaking of lives fragmented, isolation and modern ennui, I read that the phenomenon we call "boredom" is only 200 years old. There was never any mention of anyone being "bored" before then. Isn't that weird?
True so true...glad I'm not part of those lost souls tho...[don't drink the stuff, lol]
My Flash 55 is posted Scroll down below my show n tell for Friday to find it.
Have a great weekend.
Beautiful, Polly.
An oasis indeed! and it flows well!
( Hee-hee)we need all the help we can get! Thanks-
I like to think of that time in the coffee store as group meditation, contemplating the infinity of all life's desires in that paper cup...or something. ;-) Very nice 55. Enjoyed it.
Happy weekend and holidays.
Oh nice. I love a coffee shop. A real one, not Starbucks giant corporate machine. My favorite is only a block away. Quirky, independent place that also exhibits art, sells local hand crafts. Friendly staff, fabulous eats and treats and the best Bahkti chai ever. I had to give up coffee a couple of years ago due to some stomach issues...I miss it so much. Loved this 55!
You percolated a great blend of words here. Just dripping with the sweetness of Holiday hug. Back atcha.
Nice double-entendre on "daily grind" (I could go for a cup myself!)
A clever 55, Polly!
I'm a coffee drinker but this makes it sound so inviting.
Very nice 55!
Merry Christmas to you and yours!

PS Stop by, I'm having a giveaway.
I love this one too! I love the connected disconnect... ironic that so many coffee shops offer free wireless, so we can remain disconnected as we "connect."
