where Sufferings had left all hopes dashed,
where Sanity was Sold for Survival's Sake,
where Sadness, Sorrow remained in its wake.
But Songbird Sings of Spirit's Strength
of Soul's Sojourn of Suitable length,
of Self's Silent Search for Salvation's cure
found in His love - Selfless, Salient and Sure.
In addition to Ms. Jenny's Alphabe-Thursday I am participating in Flash Friday 55. This weekly meme is brought to you by G-Man, over at Mr. Know it All. The object is to write a story or prose in exactly 55 words.
I plan to be back to regular blogging after the holiday weekend. Can't wait to see you all again!

Dear Polly,
I am just beginning to get to know you a little. You write really well. Almost to the point that it leaves me speechless! I am not really sure what to say.
But I'll come back if I think of something.
Your poems are something like what I wish I could write every week for this meme, but just cannot do it. My days go with so little time to think!
Your S-post is excellent. (Sorry, I cannot even think of a good s-worth to express this!)
Best wishes,
Anna
Anna's S-words
salient is a good word. I like sapient, too. You should work that in.
I'm just now starting to find the courage to put words to paper and I want to someday be as creative as you are in this post! It was wonderful!
Wonderful S post, and yes you amazed me with so many S words in your poem!
Polly, what a stupendously superb S stop on this little journey through Alphabe-Thursday!
Really something to take note of.
Thank you for enriching this meme each week with your poetic interpretations of each letter!
Have a wonderful weekend!
Kayak a bit for me, too!

I don't know how you do it, but you continue to amaze me with your gift. This is always a favorite stop for me. Thanks.

I've been gone for So long! This seems like a supercalifragilisticexpealidocious day to have a second to take a peek! : )
...sorry, let's guess who's got small kids in the house? :)
Polly, this really was a beautiful post to come and read. I miss my old blogger buddies! I hope you are doing well! : )
You never disappoint. Sometimes they are like tongue twisters LOL.
Between you and Julie S I'm learning all kinds of new vocab! Love your post!
You are one fancy woman!! Great one!
I should get back to Haikus and Flash 55s!
Polly, your weekly poetry feeds my soul. Your work is so remarkable. I think you need to publish all of these in a book when you reach the end of the alphabet. It would make a fantastic alphabet book for adults. Seriously! ~ Sarah
What a powerful 55 and so many S words represented.
Super salute to the letter S.
I can't believe you did that in only 55 words! Clever!
Best wishes,
Natasha.
Great response to suit the two prompts.
