Alphabe-Thursday: The Letter O

Jenny Matlock

The Ordeal

Oh, to be Ordinary and Oblivious!
Obtuse to the Oppressive memories
repressed from days of Old.

Obscene images Occupying One’s mind
causing Overwhelming emotions
to Occur, On Occasion,
at in-Opportune times.

Ominous reflections
Orchestrating and Offering their Opus;
an Overture yearning to be heard.

If not met head On,
becoming an Obstacle to
Our personal growth.

In Order To move Onward,
spiritually and emotionally,
along life’s Odyssey
I Opine to you...
Optimistically and without Offense...
that it is Our Obligation to be Open
to working through the woe.

Offer that Olive branch to the pain.
Oblige the hurt.
And Only then shall they truly be
Obliterated to
Once upon a time

Polly. As always your posts are just Outstanding.

When our first round through Alphabe-Thursday is done I'm hoping you will publish these into a book so I can buy one.

You can really write girl.

Thanks for this deep and complex stop on my little journey through Alphabe-Thursday's Letter "O".

Please excuse the early visit but I am teaching night school tonight!

A+

Polly, you continue to astound me. How do you manage to come up with all these appropriate words each time and then put them to verse. You definitely need to publish these. Put me on the list after
Mrs. Matlock for a copy of your fist book.

this is great...although i do have to admit that while reading it, all i could think was that I should have "played" opine in our after dinner game of scrabble.
random, i know!

What a wonderful poem...does this type of thing flow from you naturally or do you work hard to come up with this? I love to write poetry and haikus...sometimes they flow and sometimes not...Super post...peace and blessings...jeff

Beautiful Polly. A little disappointed you didn't use the "O" word we would have used:) I could never have done that...amazing. Holly

You like Obamas action figure? lol it's like an obscene image rather than an ominous one.

Wow... This is a very thoughtful and insightful piece of alliterated poetry. What do we do with those thoughts that haunt us? I really like your olive branch and acknowledging the pain response. They are real and there, but then can become a part of the past and make us stronger. There is a lot to be said for the renewal of our minds. For putting off old destructive thoughts and putting on new beautiful thoughts of our true identity.
