Weekend Rerun: Silence of the Snow Reduex

This morning at 5:00 a.m.

It is still snowing. We probably have about 4-5 inches. The ground was warm enough that the streets don't appear to be slick but I haven't ventured out on the roads yet. In honor of the snow, my weekend re-run will take us all the way back to March 1 of 2009 when we had our last major snowfall. Enjoy.

They are calling for 4-8 inches of snow by tomorrow morning. In our area of the country, if this prediction comes true, things will come to a standstill. Those that do venture out will be at the mercy of those who have no business being on the roads. There will be accidents galore. Our twisty, curvy roads weren't built for this type of weather. We do not have the equipment to remove snow from the roads. Our trucks do their best to spread "slag" but usually only on major thoroughfares. Coming home from work tonight, I found the roads to be extremely treacherous despite driving a 4 wheel drive SUV. But until the mayhem of tomorrow morning, I thought I'd treat you all to, what is for us, a rarity...the beautiful silence of freshly falling snow.

I guess it's the snow that we are not getting (I live in NJ). I wish for one good snow storm before my tulips emerge. :)

I hope everybody stays safe, and off the roads if they have no business being there! It's one of my major pet peeves, people that think their 4 wheel drives are flying carpets during a snow storm. I have news for them, all four wheels can lose traction!
The snow looks very pretty, though.

Oh wow.. what a nice sight! We only get to see snow on TV, or if we go holiday in other countries with snow or if we go to theme parks with snow... :(

Having grown up without snow, it always fascinates me; it's so beautiful!

My mom, however, was raised with it, and has such fond memories. As an adult she went back to her childhood home during winter and realized what a pain in the neck it can be!

I've worried about you all morning having to get out to go to work. The weather channel is doing continuous reports from up your way and it looks pretty (miserable) and treacherous. I hope you're staying warm and took an extra outfit of clothes (like I used to do) in case you get snowed in. Stay safe.

I need to take my kids somewhere that has snow. Even when we do get snow here in Texas, it's never enough to play in or make a snowman with.

so pretty... the only snow I've seen recently looked more like giant, lazy swirling snowflakes... not that fast snow fall.

We ended up with eight and a half inches. It was beautiful as it was falling. Not so happy now that kids are home again for 4th week in a row.
