Six months ago

I held your hand

as you cried,

tearfully pleading

for a gun

so that you

could take your life

for your pain was

unbearable

Last week

I held your hand

as you cried,

accepting fate…

an example

of courage

faith and strength

Today

God holds my hand

as I cry…

asking why

Saturday Centus: Too Late

Oh that Ms. Jenny! What a taskmaster she is. This week, rather than 100 words to work with, in addition to the prompt, she has only allowed us 15. Normally, I try to write my story in exactly the number of words she dictates but I could not this time. So I added my 15 word allotment prior to the prompt below (in green).

Straining to be heard

over cacophony of alarms,

from monitors 

at her bedside,

she whispers:

“Before I die I want to….”

Sensational Haiku Wednesday: Comfort

He wrote the order

for comfort measures only.

Death was imminent.

Compassionate care;

Alleviating the pain.

we wait and we pray.

Divine Mercy prayed

with complete and utter faith
for a peaceful death.


"Eternal father,

In Whom mercy is endless,

look kindly on us!"
