Back to (Home) School

This school year is one of change for the Sister family. My daughter will be entering high school. After much discussion and prayer it was decided that we would accept a slot that they were holding for her at Pine Lake Prepartory Charter School. This school offers only honors classes, has a strict uniform policy and has theater classes (which Bethany is totally looking forward to taking).

On the home front, today is the first day of classes for Munchie Boy; one in which we are beginning with a whole new curriculum and methodology. This year, many of Munch's lessons will be on-line. Mr. Sister and I felt that since Munch enjoys spending time on the computer, we should make his screen time more productive.
In preparation for this occassion, old books have been removed from circulation.
The school desk has been cleaned and is ready to handle another year of abuse.
Munchie Boy's textbooks are boxed neatly and at the ready (this won't last long).

Our Learning and Reference Library has been well stocked and is busting at the seams.

And what do we have? A Munchie Boy who is all too excited to begin his lessons (NOT!)

Yay! I love new school books :) Of course I'm not a kid though, Lol. My nephew and niece did their school all online last year and loved it, they are Sophomore and Senior this year :)

I miss school books; I always found little scribbles and/or names written in mine. My daughter goes to a charter school, they really can be wonderful, we love hers.

Best of luck to Bethany in her new school. I'll bet she's excited and nervous at the same time.

I'll be interested to hear what you think of the online school for your son. Our local public school is having serious financial difficulties that may have devastating effects on the curriculum. We're taking a wait and see approach, but if things aren't going well after the first few weeks, I'll be looking for alternatives for our daughter.

Last year, we switched our son to a fantastic high school in a neighboring town. They are very student oriented and we couldn't be happier. We're thinking of switching our daughter to that district, too, or starting online school.

Keep us informed!

I am really interested to see how this all goes. I have spent the last year building up a website about online schools and think they can be great - as I can see you are a really motivated, supportive parent. I also must admit to liking traditional schools, where children meet each other and have a uniform to wear.
