Flash Friday 55: The Apology

Poetry is what it is.
Word play
eliciting emotions:
some pleasant,
some not.

Is every prose truth?
Possibly.
Possibly not.
Doesn’t matter.

Maybe, just maybe,
those string of words,
that particular phrase
are therapy for both
poet and reader.

Regardless,
the direction
of yesterday’s
the sensitive subject matter,
offended some.
For that I apologize.

I'm sorry you feel you have to apologize for it. Harsh truths won't go away just because we choose not to see; or worse, blame others for sharing.

Apolologize? I see no cause, no harm done to others. I love how careful you are to speak your truth. Silence is not golden when you're fighting for freedom.

Apology unnecessary and unaccepted. We need not apologize for the things we say and do here. Blogs are our own windows through which we let others view the things we want them to see; everything else is hidden behind doors, out of sight. What is seen through this window is what we allow them to see, what we feel we must or want to share. Nothing more, nothing less. It takes courage and strength to share what you have done. And while I can certainly appreciate someone taking exception to it because it strikes them personally, it should not force you to apologize for what you have shared. This does not make you stronger than they, but means you are in a different place with it than they are.

I see no foul. Game on.

seriously...seriously? to deny ones reality and pretend it does not happen is more offensive...

I read it and see no need for apology...this, too, is beautiful.

Polly, some people still feel that they are victims, and cannot bear to be reminded of the past. They do themselves a great injustice. I choose to be a survivor, and therefore found your words to be cathartic for you, and for others who are survivors. This is YOUR blog. You are free to write whatever you want.

Don't you dare apollogize for good writing! The first time a newspaper censored my column, I knew I'd arrived. Celebrate!
Wonderful poem, by the way!

The work should be judged by its quality not by its nature. No apologies needed.

No need to apologize. You gave a warning and if someone chose to read, that was their choice. It is a great post and poem.

Uh oh. I gotta go read it now! See what's so controversial - ha!

But I think you should never apologize for what you write...it's your truth girl.

It's ok to share it. If someone doesnt' like it, they should read another blog!
