Yes it's true. I'm not perfect. I am not as organized as I should be. I have my faults. One of them being that I forget birthdays. I'm not proud of it. I try, though, I really, truly try to remember. I have everyone's birthday marked in the "Day-Timer" I use every single day. Still, I forgot Sister #3 way back at the end of August, Sister #2 in early September, my husband's godchild's 1st birthday mid-September, and Sister #1 just a few weeks ago. I felt bad enough about it to go pick up some belated birthday cards last week. Have I sent them out yet? Nope.
This is so embarrassing! I'm so late that even my belated birthday cards are late!
My question to you all is this: Is it too late to send them out now?
I will not be able to reply to your comments today as I will be too busy helping people breathe, sucking snot, and passing gas! All in a day's work for this Respiratory Therapist.

End of Harvest Salad
I had a few items, left over from my 1st ever garden, that made for a delightful salad the other night.
I believe I shall call it "Summer's End Salad". What do you think?
It is very simple and, therein, lies the beauty.
Summer's End Salad
Ingredients
2 large tomatoes, coarsely chopped
1 medium cucumber, peeled, seeded and chunked
1 yellow pepper, sliced
Several basil leaves, chopped
1/2 onion, diced
A drizzle of extra virgin olive oil
A splash of vinegar (any variety will do)
A few dashes each of my Signature Spice Blend
A pinch or two of kosher salt
Freshly ground black pepper
Directions
Combine gently and serve.
Serves 4-6

Haiku Wednesday
Today's theme: TIME
Awake during night.
Tossing, turning. Craving sleep.
Drats! TIME to get up.
Dragging through the day
Hoping for TIME to take nap.
No such luck. Carpool.
DinnerTIME is near.
Oregano, garlic, THYME,
Pasta al dente.
Night approaches fast.
Bed's lure...intoxicating!
Relishing bedTIME.
This was fun! Everyone is invited to join in, just click on the "Haiku Wednesday" picture above and go the the "home" page. You will be directed to the fun and frivolity! Bonus points if your comments are in haiku form: 5 syllables first line, 7 syllables second line finishing with 5 syllables on the third line. Go ahead and try it...I dare you!

Am I Mad or Just a Little Bit Crazy?
My family thinks I am nuts.
They think this because my memory has failed me, of late, more times than naught.
They think this is a unique phenomenon affecting only me.
Heaven forbid if I should repeat myself a time or two or three or four.
May the dear Lord spare me from further furtive side glances and rolling eyeballs if I should happen to re-tell a tale.
I long to never have to hear again, "Uh, Hon...We've had this conversation all ready," or the whispered concerns behind my back.
Please tell me, dear friends, that I am not alone.
Or better yet, please, please , please convince Mr. Sister and the little Sisters that this is a normal happenstance for any women of our particular age and circumstance.
Otherwise, I fear, the next knock at my door may be the men in white coats.
On a serious note: for my family and for those who would like a little more information regarding memory and peri-menopause/menopause connection I ask that you please take the time to read THIS and THIS.

I would now like to welcome any and all new friends who have made their way over from Willoughby's Cocktail Party. Please take the time to visit an archived post or two. Feel free to ask me any questions you may have as I have plans to use those very questions in an upcoming "video" interview that will eventually be posted on my blog. (I want questions from my old blog buddies, too!) It is my sincere hope that you decide this might be a fun place to hang out from time to time. The light is always on and the door is always open.
