Saturday Centus: You Are My Munchie-Boy

Mama rocks her babe gently
during their nightly ritual.
While nursing
the little duck plays
“You Are My Sunshine”.

Mama softly sings to her son:

You are my Munchie-Boy
my only Munchie-Boy
You are Mommy’s pride and joy,
Mommy loves you,
this is so true,
for you are my Munchie-Boy!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Darn that Ms. Jenny...she only gave us an additional 50 words this week, plus the prompt (above in green). I guess we have a half Centus today. She was kind enough, however, to throw us a bone with the permission to use a photo with our story.
I'm only pretending to complain. Honestly, I must truly thank dear Ms. Jenny. Her prompt brought back sweet memories of my nighttime ritual with my baby boy. I would sing to him the above song as I rocked him gently to sleep. Even when he became old enough to put himself to bed, I would still sing this for him as I tucked him in. But that was long ago. Maybe if I ask him nicely, he'll let me sing to him once more.
bwaaaa...my little ones are all grown up, have children of their own and even grandchildren. Where does the time go so quickly...seems I went to bed one night and they were in grade school..when I woke up..they were grown. :))
True blessings, indeed.
Polly, I had a "made-up" song that I sang to my first-born, my daughter Jennifer. She still remembers it! And when times were tough for me mentally, I would take my son Jeff from his bed in the middle of the night and rock him. It was such a comfort for me.
Loved this because it brought me back 3 decades to rocking my children and singing to them.
Dear Polly,
Lovely memory. Cute song that you made up.
I have also sung for my children at bedtime. I sang when I was expecting and I sang for Elisabet when she was in the hospital for open-heart-surgery.
And even though Erik and Elisabet are nine and seven years old, they will still want me to sing for them at bedtime (especially Erik), when they have a hard time falling asleep.
Best wishes & hugs,
What do I sing? Not, "You are my Sunshine", but I think I might include it in my repertoire. I sing Swedish lullabies.
I always made up crazy lyrics for my kids, too. Each of them had an original and rather bizarre bedtime song. They still remember the words!
What a sweet song! I like to sing made-up songs to my two toddlers; and now my four year old makes up her own songs.
THIS is one of my favorite things about being a mommy!!! It kind of reminds me of the book "I'll Love You Forever." Which made me cry every time I read it to my girls!!!
Now, they are getting old enough that they like to sing songs for MY amusement! Last night during her shower, Ilisabeth sang..."Scrub, scrub, scrubby...Isi's in he tubby!" all while shaking her little rear like a duck! It was hilarious!!! I think these are the little gifts that God gives us for being moms!!!
Sweet post, my friend.
I always sang "You Are My Sunshine" to my kids when they were small.
Rocking and singing to babies is the best most tender time. I miss it so much.
Oh Polly. This made my eyes tear up! This was beautiful.
Last night we watched the two youngest grands after school. The middle one (7 1/2) asked me to hold her and sing her 'her song'.
I did.
It makes me cry.
How can they grow up so fast.
This was a touching and beautiful post.
Loved this.
