Fairy Tale: A Flash Friday 55 Offering

Once upon a yesteryear
I believed in fairy-tales…

Prince Charming came
to slay dragons
wakening, writhing,
dancing in tempo
to rhythmic beat
of troubled heart
pound, pound, pounding…

truth
drown, drown, drowning
‘neath blood spilt
through pierced flesh;
sword’s tainted tip
eventually exposing
Prince’s flaws
as well…

once upon a yesteryear
I believed in fairy-tales…

I like the repetition of the opening phrase at the close of this. Really nice, Polly!

Yep--best to believe in yourself instead, and then you can always make a up a few fairy tales for entertainment, I say.

Once upon a time, I did too.

Nice word choice and repetition.

But I still want to believe in fairy tales. :-)

I like the way the repeated first lines become ironic at the end.

Sounds to me he wasn't much of a prince. I know they do exist...
