Closet Revisited

Revisiting closet
inspecting closely
apparel hiding
behind turtlenecks,
tees, denim
finding dress
you know
the one
THAT one
never worn
boldly crimson
once intimidating
now enticing
tags snipped
garment released
from threat
of possible
probable return
had not
internal battle
been waged
and won
slipping on
fitting perfectly
feeling sexy
wearing truth
of authentic self

Back in April of 2010 I wrote an original 55 word poem regarding choosing between wearing a hot, spicy red dress or something comfortable, familiar, with the least risk. In that poem, the subject chose, most likely out of fear of the unknown, what she always wore. Fast forward and you presently find our subject stepping out from her old ways into the bright, bold, woman she was always meant to be.

Two, two...two memes in one!
It's an "Alphabe-Thursday-Friday-55" mash up!

Clothes make a huge difference in how we feel--and who couldn't feel confident in a dress like that?

That is my absolute favorite color and you have perfectly captured the inner dialog many of us have conducted with ourselves at one time or another.

Nice work, Polly!!

It's odd and always surprising how clothes can change your whole attitude. Today I threw some overalls on over a red pajama shirt. Justin says I look like Super Mario. That makes me want to eat some spaghetti and jump on koopa troopas.

Yes! Glad you went for the red dress! Hope you have some sexy heels to go with it! You've got the attitude!

Great poem, Polly.

And by the way, I did post the "writer" card on my blog today. ;)

Congratulations on wearing that gorgeous dress and accomplishing two memes in one. I played Alphabe Thursday two go rounds, maybe three - my mind is ancient and not so good with memory - but I've faltered at it now.

My 55 is at:

great post. Last time I did this, sadly, I lost the battle. Tried on the dress, thought it looked very unsexy, tossed it into the donation pile, ate some chocolate... LOL

Fabulous. I have a dress like that in the back of my closet but I've yet to get up the nerve to actually wear it.

Good for you!
