Sensational Haiku Wednesday - Metamorphosis

Metamorphosis, 1997
Wheel-thrown and modified vessel
by The 5th Sister

Wedged, formed and molded...
clay upon the potter's wheel...
Glazed; refined by fire.

Beginning as mud,
the Creator makes his mark.
Metamorphosis

That's a stunning piece of artwork! And a great haiku to match.

A local artist friend is a potter as well. If you have a view minutes, check her site. http://www.sarahcoffin.blogspot.com/

I'll send her yours, too!

No better metamorphosis than that affected by your own hands! That is a very very nice piece, and a great haiku! Well done!

OMG I would have never thought about this. I can so picture the artists hands doing this. How creative and a great take on the word. Well done my friend :)

This haiku fits your photo, and it fits the Master Sculptor as well. Your haiku has many layers of possible meaning. Very nicely done.

Oh Polly, I love this one! I took my first pottery class last fall and absolutely loved it. Even made my first wheel thrown piece! I loved it so much I signed up again for this spring, class starts in 2 weeks!

Beautiful piece you made, how'd you do the white?

Girlfriend, you should be showing your pieces in a gallery (yes, I remember the other pieces you posted pics of a while back), or perhaps in an Etsy store. Oh, and the Haiku rocks!

Your jar is gorgeous. I love hand-made pottery and creating it is a perfect metaphor for the metamorphosis haiku theme. Lovely.

This is happy H day...
but I tend to spend time wandering about if I can, on posts other than where I am just destined to go...

And glad I did.
For this work was well worth that extra time!

Is that your piece of pottery? It is lovely. I went to a women's ministry conference in which the theme was "made by the Potter's hand." Each of us received a handmade and glazed coffee cup. The woman who made these made about 500. What a act of service.
