Monday Musings-November 30

Dear Carolina Panthers,

Come on guys. You're making it awfully hard to defend you! And I'm talking to you, too, Jake. 4 interceptions? Seriously? And you, offensive line, where was Jake's pass protection? I realize there were a couple of questionable calls by the refs but those, in no way, can not explain away the stinky game you all played. I'll be pinching my nose and hanging my head low this week.

Your (struggling to be loyal) fan,
Mrs. Sister

PS   I wonder if it's too late to scratch the Panther jersey off my Christmas wish list? Nah. I still love you, Jake. Besides, after this year it may even be a collector's item!

Happy Birthday Mark!

Today is my little brother's birthday. He would have been 47. You can read all about him here

Awards Monday!

Last week I was awarded a couple of recognitions. First, I received the Lemonade Stand from Betty over at CUT AND DRY. Go check out her blog. It's a wonderful mix of one woman's life experience. I've thoroughly enjoyed her recent posts regarding her trip to Belgium.

I've recently received and awarded the Lemonade Stand to several bloggers (see this post) but will use this opportunity to recognize a newly found blog and an old friend:

Just Because my Pickle Talks...: One mom's experience with an autistic child. Love it! Love him! Love her!
The Domestic Mama: Beautiful food photography, awesome recipes and pretty nifty giveaways. Need I say more?

The next recognition comes from a new friend of mine: Weezer over at Weezer's Haven. You have to check her blog out. Really. I think you'll like it. Anyway, I received the Hot Shot award for being a frequent commenter on her blog.

In the same vane, I will award this to my frequent commenters as well.

The Spinach Turkey was awesome - I have some pics on facebook - or
see my my mobile blog pics -
I did use crescents instead of the bread you suggested - cause I am a bit ignorant of breads, but I will ask at the grocery store and see if I can get the phyllo dough or do I have to make it...

Adorable award. You are so sweet to give it to us. We proudly accept. I still have to get my blog legs back. I've been off for a week. I think it was really good for me to clear my head and focus on something else. Of course, now I feel a little lost...scrambling about. Thanksgiving was wonderful! Wanted also to commend you on the beautiful way you share your faith. The call to holiness was a great post. I think it is so important that we share on our blogs ALL of who we are. For those of us who center our lives on Christ...it makes it very difficult to omit Him from our blogs. I think of Him all day, how can I possibly not mention or write about HIM?! I notice though that comments go down on the day I see someone has. I'm proud of you...Well done! Holly:)

Gotta love the NFL! My Lions continue to uphold their legendary losses...

I didn't know the story of your brother but I clicked over and read it. I appreciate that you shared that story with us. I join you in remembering Mark today...

Congratulations on your many (well-deserved) awards!

Polly, thanks so much for the award. I love stopping by your place for little visits every day. It is my pleasure to comment--it makes for a better visit when we can "chat." After all,I wouldn't come to sit in your living room every day and not say anything...that would just be silly.

I am sorry about your brother. I went back and read the post about him. I know you must miss him, even so many years later. I am sorry for your loss.

And I agree so much with Holly's comment above, about sharing your faith. I love it that you do so freely and naturally here. I need to do more of that over at my place.

Polly, I'm very sorry about the loss of your brother, Mark. I can't imagine how difficult his absence must be. Should you ever need or want to talk, I'm here.

Thank you for the award. I'm so glad that you've found our place. Although I never would've wished for a child on the autism spectrum, I wouldn't change a thing. I know that we are blessed that he's at the high end of the spectrum and we can write about the "joys in the challenges of Asperger's Syndrome."

Sorry about your Panthers and Jake. I'm lamenting over my two fantasy football teams. Who would think a team with Tom Brady, Adrian Peterson, Jason Witten and other top players would be at the bottom of the league?!?!?!? Go figure.
